The highlight of the trek, actually the day we are all looking for in fear, is the day of crossing a very high mountain-pass: Thorung-La . It is 5,416 meters high, and the day of crossing it requires a climb of 900 meters (from 4,500 meters) to the pass itself, and descend of 1,600 meters (!) from the other side, to 3,800 meters - all in one day.
|
A typical sight of the snowy mountains on the area of this pass is seen in this picture.
The other side of the pass takes us along
the Kali-Gandaki river, one of the greatest rivers of Nepal.
|
|
After some days of descending along the Kali-Gandaki river, the trail goes to Ghorepani village, in a nice area of woods that look like a wild jungle.
Every night we meet a new guest-house. Mostly built of stones or wood, this is what a typical double room in the guest-houses on the trek looks like .

Dal-baht,
the Nepali meal you'll learn to like on the trek, even if you don't like
!
Nutritious and appetizing, this cool blend of rice, potatos and other spicy things won't leave you hungry. An example of this lovely dish is seen in this picture. |
