My father, Pesach Shachar, was an officer taking a training session at Keesler Air Force Base, Biloxi Mississippi, in 1969, when Hurricane Camille struck late August. Following the storm, staff from the base were sent to town for various assistance tasks. Following are photos of the storm aftermath taken by my father around Biloxi.

Keesler AFB was forever changed after Camille. Thereafter, as soon as the word “hurricane” was whispered, crews evacuated aircraft from there before you could drive across the base!

Was in this hurricane, but I was only 4 months old. My father said to help my mom he set me in a baby car seat and put me on their bed that was floating in the house . We lived on Keesler AFB
