A unique complex of a hotel and theater was built in Tiberias during the years 1926 – 1929 by Shlomo Feingold. It was named after his wife – “Elisabeth – Elisheva”. The complex was closed in the late 1940s. It was then renovated and reopened in 1949 under the new name “Hotel Genossar”. The hotel was popular among Israelis and tourists, and people from the area came to the theater to enjoy famous plays and films. It is abandoned since the end of the 1960s. Its beautiful dome collapsed during a fire in 2001. Although it is included in a Tiberias preservation list, nothing is done with this magnificent structure.
