It consists of 21 thematic sections that connect to each other and create a circular 70 Kilometers path. The project started as a pro bono grassroots initiative to identify Haifa’s unique DNA, map main sites and attractions and create a framework that leverages these assets for various purposes: local identity, healthy living, walking encouragement, sports, culture events and tourism. Thus, Haifa Trail zigzags along Haifa’s streets, alleys, forests and shores. The trail enables to experience Haifa’s various landscapes and attractions, while visiting museums, cultural and religious sights, and experiencing its unique urban wildlife. The project got financial support from the Technion as well as municipal entities and was eventually fully adopted by the municipality of Haifa. I have been performing field research, writing content, maintaining web presence, fundraising and promoting the trail to become a city project, working with various entities such as academic and municipality officials. Haifa Trail website includes detailed section way finding and explanations in English and Hebrew. A printed map of the trail with useful information was funded by “Tourism Haifa” and is available at the Haifa Tourist Information Center.

Haifa Trail Website: https://www.haifatrail.com Haifa Trail on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/HaifaTrail/ Article in Haaretz

A presentation about the project.

Thomas Fietz from Germany was the first visitor to complete the trail, by running.

Students the Faculty of Architecture and Town Planning in the Technion guided by Arch.
