Instead, I get controversial sights of demolishing traditional neighborhoods and way of life.

ngg_shortcode_1_placeholder
ngg_shortcode_2_placeholder

Are these the people who pay the price of hosting the Olympic Games?

ngg_shortcode_3_placeholder

and here are the notorious “demolish” (拆 chāi) characters

ngg_shortcode_4_placeholder
ngg_shortcode_5_placeholder

Endless wide roads leading to new development

ngg_shortcode_6_placeholder
ngg_shortcode_7_placeholder

For residents waiting to follow a dream?

ngg_shortcode_8_placeholder

I realize I have to walk back south to reach the construction area. My sandals and shorts are a safety violation already. At least I’ll get a helmet. I enter one of the workers’ resting areas and ask to borrow a helmet. All set!

ngg_shortcode_19_placeholder

Now I imagine myself joining one of the delegations entering the stadium on the opening ceremony, or finishing the Marathon run!

ngg_shortcode_20_placeholder
ngg_shortcode_21_placeholder
ngg_shortcode_22_placeholder

The strange thing is that the stadium looks rather… small!
