Floods in the Arava, southern Negev and Eilat area

posted in: Israel, Israel South

An extreme weather system affected the southern areas of Israel on January 18th, 2010. The storm poured significant amounts of rain on vast areas of the Negev Desert, causing extensive flash floods. The wonderful sights of water in the desert were outstanding this time, and were captured on camera during a long journey through the Arava Rift Valley, Southern Negev and Eilat areas.

Your photographs of Jewish Berlin reached me via friend in Ra’anana , who together with me and two others survived war-time Berlin. Even after several visits to Berlin sine the end of the war, the scenes and sites you depict are immensely moving and evocative and I should like to thank you for a great achievement. On a happy personal note – my wife and I will shortly be making a very belated Aliyah …. My father , a life-long Zionist, did not make it. He was one of the 250 murdered in Sachsenhausen in May l942 to whom you refer.
    Thank you again.
