Coronavirus Times – The 100 meters radius challenge

posted in: Global, Haifa, Israel

So, fighting Coronavirus brought upon us a lockdown. Roaming outside is possible only for basic necessities such as buying food. Getting fresh air is limited to a radius of 100 meters around home. It became on opportunity to rediscover the immediate surroundings of my home.

Judas-trees (Cercis siliquastrum ) are now at peak blossom just outside our block.

It’s time to get a better look and get intoxicated from the purple sight.

Writing this post I discovered it’s also called “Love Tree”. Will it bring love in Corona times?

I then discovered a hidden corner under one of the streets. An abandoned playground, now dominated by a grand eucalyptus tree hugged with love.

The old public housing apartment blocks in my street create an intimate place to live, blending majestically with the vegetation. Here’s a viewpoint I didn’t know before.

I have been passing by our neighborhood synagogue so many times, but never took the time to visit it. Now, exactly when it is closed for prayers, an opportunity popped up to explore its surroundings. Its Brutalist style, against all odds, blends with the forest behind it.

The aging concrete column with its missing patches took the shape of the cypress tree’s trunk…

The last time I visited our little forest with the creek was quite long ago. Rediscovering it was a bless

Paying attention to the small details. As the time now allows us to deepen our insights – outward and inward.

And last but not least, I found my neighbor Palina

So – What do you discover in a 100 radius around your home?
